Sadly today is our last day in Rome and it promises to be a pretty exciting one.

We are up and out early and again, stopping briefly to gather strength with our takeaway coffee.
It’s a brisk walk to meet a guide who will take us around the colosseum. We have bought tickets that will take us underground to envisage where the gladiators and the animals stayed underneath the main stage before we accessed the main arena and then the 50 steep stairs ( our guide stated a lot).

What a fabulous morning.
There is a funny story about one reason for our visit to the Colosseum and Rome.
About 20 years ago, we visited Rome with our two young boys, we took loads of photos of everything but our SD card was corrupted so no photos. No photos, were we really there????
So here we are correcting our own history.

I may have overcompensated in the photo department this time.

We were also fortunate enough to also visit the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill with the Imperial Palace.

Wandering around I always think of my brothers comments about the Romans really have a lot of old s#*t.😊

Afterwards, we wandered in the direction of home to find some more pizza and check out a little coffee shop that Harry and Tina found yesterday.
Enjoying our Latte, the Roman way, at the bar.

We have 2 more destinations today and we know they will be incredibly crowded with tourists ( Like us) as it is still holidays here.
Firstly, the Spanish Steps. Very crowded and lots of selfies being taken but entertaining to watch.
The photos and postcards featuring the steps are way prettier than reality.

I was able to remove all the people leaving Harry and Tina with my very clever phone.

Next up, the Trevi Fountain. Beautiful as always but some changes have been made very recently.
The fountain has been thoroughly cleaned and emptied of coins. The system is to line up donate and then move in front of the crowds to the edge of the fountain for the Instagram pic.
We stayed behind the crowds and still managed to see what we came for.

Now it’s time to head back to our place and rest before dinner.
We also need to do a bit of washing so as to have some clean clothes for the next part of the adventure.

Dinner was nice, mainly pastas tonight.
