31st December 2024
After what seemed like an endless trip flying across the world, we finally made it to the UK and London.
Our weary minds negotiating a very slick security and customs system at the airport had us sitting on the tube within 30 mins I guess.
It’s about 7am and still very dark which is a little confusing.
It’s about a 10 minute walk to Harry and Tina’s from the station and despite being laden down with loads of gear, it appears to be a bit chilly.
We woke them up with our early arrival but what an absolute delight to see them both after so long.
Quick chat and off to grab some coffee and pastries and other supplies.
It is so very quiet considering today is a normal day, perhaps the Londoners resting up for their New Years celebrations.
As a Christmas gift Harry presented us with a two day itinerary of our London New Year activities.
We are both delighted by the thoughtfulness.
The morning spent wandering around the area, catching up with each other, drinking coffee and me delighting in the new graffiti to photograph.
A restful afternoon before embarking on part one of the itinerary, refreshments required as we were exploring Leadenhall market. For any Harry Potter fans, this is the arcade that was transformed into Diagonal Alley. Found the Wand shop which is now a coffee shop.
Pudding Lane and the Monument (memorials of the great fire of London)
We continue headed towards the final destination, dinner at Sagardi.
A restaurant run by a Basque Spainish family, apparently everything eaten in the restaurant is grown and nurtured by the family, including the beef.
Heaven for carnivores.
The food was sensational, simple and flavoursome.
With full bellies, Stuart and I are starting to fade, it’s only a 5 minute walk home, thankfully.
And there you have it.
New Years Eve 2024
We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Happy New Year.
For us, the lights were off by 8.50pm😁.
The loud and rapid explosions around us at midnight reminded us 2025 was here and it was nice to watch whist still in bed.
Glad you arrived safely! Say Hi to Harry and Tina. Lisa's parents spoke fondly of their time when they met Harry and Tina in WA
