We have been very busy today and totally nailing the tourist in Rome brief.
Such a fun morning but it started with a gentle stroll through the streets, feeling equipped with a takeaway coffee we head over to the pickup point for our crazy Fiat tour.
Of course tho, when in Rome you will always find Magnificent buildings and equally magnificent ruins.
We pass the ridiculously enormous and beautiful Monumento Vittorio Emanuel II before coming across Capitoline Hill and the Roman Forum with glimpses of the colosseum close by.
We end up walking straight past it on our way to via Labicana where will meet the Fiat tour.
After successfully folding ourselves into the cars, what follows is a few hours of touring around Rome.
Some places, I doubt we would have gone to on our own.
Lovely high points for great views but sadly the weather wasn’t as perfect as yesterday.
Stuart and I in one car with a driver as were Harry and Tina in another and a French Canadian couple who were brave enough to drive themselves. Full credit to them.
Harry and Tina’s car did a bit of a push start at one point but all ended well.
Such a fun morning and completed with lunch again at our first restaurant.
Couple of hours of quiet time before heading across the river to meet our hosts for an authentic pasta making class.
Learning to make the dough was very easy, only two ingredients. The hard work came in the kneading
Whilst our dough was rising we learnt how to make an Amatriciana sauce to go with our fettuccine, interestingly unlike home, the Amatriciana is not spicy
In all we learnt how to make ravioli which we stuffed with spinach and ricotta and the fettuccine.
Before we sat to eat, we also were shown how to make a very simple gelato. Eggs, sugar and not quite boiled milk
We had so much fun, it was a really enjoyable evening and our homemade dinner was delicious too, particularly when washed down with a very tasty Red.
Lovely amble home for nightcaps and robust conversation.
Yum! You’ll have to throw a dinner party when you’re back and show us your pasta making skills 👏🏻🤤
