2nd January 2025
Back to work today for our hosts, Harry and Tina.
Meaning we will have to entertain ourselves. They are both working from home so we really need to make ourselves scarce.
It’s freezing this morning, not exaggerating!
-1 making it very hard to go across the road to get the coffee and pastries that we last night promised we would do.
We managed, only because it was going to my favourite tiny coffee shop here in London.
Our plan after the coffee and pastries is to head to Camden Town and do a bit of a walking tour around the area.
We had look at the Camden lock and Regents canal which was very reminiscent as we spent a week on a canal boat last year.
It was such an enjoyable holiday and took us back to the fun we had pretending we knew how to work the lock.
The Camden markets are huge and pretty busy for a week day, we wandered around and enjoyed the general ambiance of the place.
We continued to walk along Camden High st that then became Chalk Farm Rd.
Interestingly by doing a left hand turn we entered a very dignified ( and dare I say a bit posh ) high st, fully of pretty shops and cafes. A complete contrast to the grungy and punk shops in Camden Town.
At the end of the high st we entered the park and head up Primrose Hill.
Climbing the 66m above sea level, it was actually a lovely views of central London.
Loads of people at the top including,I think a lot of nannies chasing their charges.
Down the other side and we walk into the suburb of St John’s Wood, even more posh!
Huge and beautiful homes, I can only imagine what they are worth.
It appears we are very close to Abbey Rd and the famous Abbey Road studios so we decide to head down there.
It seems that the pedestrian crossing as seen on the Beatles album cover is possibly more popular than the studio as people are lining up for their turn to cross on the crossing which was hugely entertaining.
We are getting weary now and start to head home, hoping the workers will allow us in to rest.
Dinner out tonight and home for an early one so Harry can get some study done.
