A pretty bumpy and rainy start for us to acknowledge Australia Day and a very strange place to be doing it.

We could be mistaken for thinking today maybe a little unpleasant and that is something we are not used to , having been spoilt with beautiful but unsurprisingly cold weather.

We are very happy to just while away the hours up top and watch this scenery pass us by.

It changes so quickly.
From miserable to more so with rain to wind to sun and blue sky.

A few brief stops along the way today, still with a lot of snow on the wharves.

And indoor swimming centres

And then it squalled.
The rain was against the window up here on the top floor and then needless to say it stopped and out came the blue sky.

I dont say out came the sun because you dont necessarily see the sun, it’s just the sky gets a little brighter.

Arrived in Brønnøysund about 3pm and we have about two and half hours here. Of course nothing open as it is Sunday afternoon but i am delighted as there is still a little light in the sky.
I was sure it would be dark.

Walked along the Wharf, which was nice and not too cold.
We are still layerd up but i think it’s about 2c, so we probably dont need quite so much.

Locals here are very proud of the fact that the town is exactly halfway between the most northern part of Norway and the southern.
And they have the sign to prove it.

Tonight we are having our final dinner, although its our second last night it seems a lot of people leave the ship in Trondheim, which is an early morning stop tomorrow.

What a great meal it was too.
Five courses, if you dont mind and a lovely glass of complementary Prosecco on arrival.
The wait staff, supervisors and the ship executive officers, all there to welcome.

That is certainly one of the things i like about Hurtigruten is that desire to make everyone feel welcome and i think they do it well.
