Majorly slow start this morning, but to be expected after our late arrival last night but it’s ok and we forgive ourselves as the sun doesn't want to get up either.
It drizzled all night but wasn't terribly cold but some sort of daylight was visible about 9 am.
Organised ourselves and headed for a coffee and perhaps something to eat.
Found a recommended place, “Blom” and honestly would have walked past if we hadn't seen a lady come out with her coffee.
Just Fabulous coffee!! Perhaps we were in dire need.
Feeling ready to face the world now we decided to ditch public transport and walk the 20 minutes or so towards Bryggen, the old warehouse and wharf part of Bergen.
On the way we walked through the city, saw the sailors memorial.
Saw also a revamp of the original fish market. Beautiful but expensive seafood.
Yes, it’s touristy but my goodness, i can see why.
So much history and its just gorgeous.
We decided to visit the Bryggen museum and another quick coffee in the cute little cafe before we start.
Great museum, it opened in the 70’s after the last of the many fires had torn through this area, the last being in 1955.
Even 10 years after the war it was evident feelings still ran high.
As the archeologists dug, as usual the deeper they dug the more they unearthed even dating back a millennia or more.
A truly fabulous afternoon.
We’re both starting to fade a bit and our brains truly overwhelmed we decide to head home for a bit of a rest. ( feeling a bit like this guy)
He’s a statue, i didn't offend anyone.!
Plus the weather ( and night ) is starting to close in.
Biggest decision we have now is dinner and hoping not to go to go to far, keen for an early night so we can get touristing again tomorrow
